Who we are
CarRecall is operated by Alpha Pariah Studios, a sole trader based in Wrexham, Wales, UK. You can contact us at business@alphapariah.studio.
Alpha Pariah Studios is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration reference ZC106985. We act as the data controller for any data processed in connection with this service.
What data we collect
CarRecall collects the following data when you sign up for recall alerts:
Email address — provided by you when registering. Used solely to send you vehicle recall alert emails.
Vehicle registration number — used to query the DVSA recall database and monitor your vehicle for new recalls. Stored alongside your email address.
When you enter a vehicle registration number without signing up, that registration is used solely to query the DVSA recall API in real time. We do not log, store, or retain registration numbers used for one-off checks.
How we use your data
Your email address and vehicle registration are used exclusively to monitor your vehicle for safety recalls and to alert you when a new recall is issued. We will not use your email address for marketing, share it with third parties, or contact you for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
Legal basis for processing
Alert subscription data (email + registration) — processed on the basis of your consent, given when you submit your details to sign up for alerts. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Analytics data — processed on the basis of our legitimate interests in understanding how the service is used in order to improve it. This data is anonymous and aggregated.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics. IP anonymisation is enabled. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Cookies
We do not set any first-party cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies as described above. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Third-party services
CarRecall queries the following third-party API to provide recall data:
DVSA vehicle recalls API — operated by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. See DVSA's privacy information.
Data retention
Your email address and vehicle registration are retained for as long as you are subscribed to recall alerts. If you unsubscribe, your data is deleted promptly. Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google in accordance with their standard retention policies.
Your rights under UK GDPR
As a UK-based service, we comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. You have the following rights in respect of your personal data:
Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data we hold.
Erasure — request deletion of your personal data at any time.
Withdrawal of consent — unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the unsubscribe link in any alert email, or by contacting us directly.
Complaint — lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service develops. The date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
